Laurium
When Thomas H. Hoatson, owner of the Calumet and Arizona Mining Co., and his wife, Cornelia, decided to build a new home in 1908, they spared no expense. Their abode, plus its furnishings, cost $85,000 (approximately $2 million in today's money), and contains 45 rooms that take up 13,000 square feet. Now, the four-story building is an inn whose owners, in addition to providing accommodations, offer tours that let visitors explore this opulent symbol of Copper Country industry.
