Most of McLain State Park's beaches are rocky, but the area does have a strip of land known as the Breakwaters that's a great spot for swimming and sunbathing, as are areas near the state park's campground. Bicyclists and hikers will find plenty of places to explore, while in the winter, cross country skiers can have their turn at the trails. The park, positioned at the tippy-top of Houghton County, is also known for its gorgeous sunsets.
